I have a 2024 new Tiguan, 5 seater. Noticed today a downward bend in the carpeted cardboard cover over the spare tire. Any vehicles I’ve had in the past had a reinforced custom fit styrofoam cover fitted over the spare tire and hollow spaces to add structure and keep the cover level under weight. Never had a problem with putting a variety of weight in the back of any previous vehicles as a result. I was surprised to see nothing was over the spare and can see why the cargo liner has bent and will only get worse with time since there is no support above the cavities in and around the spare.
Went to the dealership to ask if there was a missing piece and he assured me there was not with no other available fix for the problem.
I can’t imagine with the lack of a support piece that others aren’t having similar issues. I’d love to know if anyone else has a problem and more importantly, have you come up with fix?
