no flashing led

up until a few days ago the little led flesed when the car was locked but recently it doesnt but the car is locked and there are not check engine lights or anything that shows there a problem. has enyone experienced this?

this kind of issue, it seems possible that the LED might be tied to the alarm system or immobilizer. Some cars stop flashing if the system isn't fully armed, even if the doors are locked. Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob or have it checked for electrical issues?
Maybe try a different key fob if you have one, or do a battery reset (disconnecting the negative terminal for a few minutes) to see if it resets.

Hey, don't worry about it. It's just to make you feel confident about your car that no ratsy little robber is gonna come near it because it's akarmed. Not much of a battery consumption also. It's just LED.

This sounds like a good tip! interesting about the LED being linked to the securiy system. have you tried a different key fob as the comments suggested?

Here's an update for you guys. I scanned it with my cheap obd scanner and it showed nothing. I took it to a friend of mine that has one of those special scanners for vw and still nothing. He recommended that we try to disconnect the battery and leave it for a while. Did that, grabbed a beer and came back to it about half an hour later. Plugged it in and the LED was working. Could've been a glitch?

Yeah, it was probably a glitch. Those flashing leds are controlled by the central electronic module and sometimes they can get stuck if there is a software problem or the voltage is irregular.
