Can anyone kindly explain to me if the Volkswagen Tiguan is using Hydraulic Power Steering or Electric Power Steering? I am having some difficulties at certain times regarding the steering being heavy when I have to start and stop. I previously had a car with an EPS, and I never encountered this issue. I made an extensive research before I ourchased this Tiguan, bt for some reason I missed out on this information. So please, if anyone can provide me more details regarding this, that would be perfect.

its actually is electrohydraulic power steering, which is an innovated kind following the old hydraulics system so it uses an electric motor to power the pump isntead of the engine. you can research more about this to get the full and more detailed explanation.

Oh okay. I did a quick search up and apparently that EHPS sounds nice. But I'm kind of worried if that is a bad thing because what if there is a problem with the wirings, then it's going to be very dangerous. If that happens, I am afraid the steering will be difficult to maneuver. I say it's better if we stick with the good old EPS or HPS. If we mix it isn't that too overcomplicated, and expensive if something goes wrong!

Tiguan uses electric power steering and has for years, no hydraulic mess under the hood. your steering's feeling heavy, especially during low speed maneuvers like start stop traffic, could be a faulty EPS motor, sensor, or even low voltage from the battery affecting assist, get it checked

the tiguan had electric rack since day 1 so any problem with it could mean problem with the power, low battery or maybe something with the alternator

Tiguans run on EPS. What you're describing (heavy when starting/stopping) isn't normal for EPS.
I'd bet it's either a battery/voltage issue, a quirky sensor, or maybe the steering rack itself. Get it checked by a VW specialist, they can usually plug it in and see what's really going on
