depends what kind you need. if its just for scanning codes you can pick on up for a few bucks anywhere and they work well enough. if you need someting more pro youll need to tell us your budget to know what to recommend there are some pretty pricey scaners

that would depend on which specific car model you wanna use it for. And if its going to be just a casual maintenance monitoring for your own use, i suggest you go for the generic ones and dont sweat too much money for it unless you actually service and wanna earn money from it.

OBD2 scanners work well with Tiguan! But are you looking for deep diagnostics? That's a different deal and you may need to explore VCDS by Ross-Tech.

Oh man, been there, totally feel you. If you want a good one, check out the BlueDriver , it's super easy, works with your phone, and actually gives pretty solid details. If you want a little handheld one, the Autel scanners are awesome too
